Dear
Friends,
It has been an exciting
period since I last wrote to you. I was invited to create
an Art Float for “Chingay 2008” (an annual
national parade to celebrate Chinese New Year). This annual
event attracts a few hundred thousand viewers and enjoys
live TV broadcast.
18 hours before
the parade, fire engulfed one of my major sculptures and
burnt a huge hole.
It was as big a
crisis as one could get in this situation and naturally
my team was shocked and devastated. With moral running
low, and repairing at this stage was not a possibility....
the clock was ticking ....all eyes were on me... "&&*^^@@{{}}...Got
an idea!!!", I shot up and yelled, “Why don't
we just touch up and present as is?!...”.
It was magic –
the result turned out great and I managed to live up to
a principle I believe in: "face adversity with calm,
and try to turn it into opportunity". At the last
moment, I created a piece of art which I am the proudest
of.
